WEB SECURITY

The internet is a great place to research, explore new sites and communicate via e-mails and groups, etc.  However, there are malicious marketing companies and individual hackers that can create havoc with your pleasure and disrupt your computer.  This may be anything from a simple  market research tool gathering a list of which sites you visit and reporting it, an unwanted pop-up or a virus that causes damage to your computer.  So, please take care out there.  As far as we know, this site is safe, but please take your own precautions.  We use Norton Anitvirus, Norton Internet Security, and PC Tools Spydoctor, but check out what the internet says.  Here are some useful links:

WEB-BROWSERS
Download a free web browser:
Download a free web browser:  We have listed four of the currently most popular web-browers.

If your web browser is an early version, it may not 'scale' the images to fit the window (AOL 9.0 doesn't ), or it may not display IFRAMES correctly.  The latest versions of these web-browsers can handle these and have many other features that make viewing modern websites easier and more user-friendly.

To read RSS/XML newsfeeds, you will require an RSS news aggregator.  This can be some standalone software or an add-in to a web browser.  I use Firefox web browser and the Sage add-in for Firefox.  This allows you to add RSS feeds from web pages visited (e.g. Yahoo groups, BBC, Washington Post) using the 'find RSS feeds on this page' feature.  Subsequently, click on the newsfeed link in Sage to see the news headlines displayed by the browser; clicking on a headline takes you to that news item.  The instructions given by Firefox and Sage should be enough to help you through download and installation.  If all else fails, contact us at webmaster@brushedjeans.info.

GUESTBOOK

SMART GB

If your browser does not support 'IFRAMES', then the link will take you to the Smart GB website that hosts the BrushedJeans guestbook.  Click the guestbook logo to the right for the current guestbook. ---->

Also, for browsers that do support IFRAMES, if you use the BrushedJeans link to access the guestbook, the link at the bottom of the SmartGB guestbook [Back to BrushedJeans website] loads the Home page inside the frame, resulting in a 'frame-hell' loop.  Please use the interactive buttons at the top of the BrushedJeans page and not the link provided by the guestbook.
